Department of Urology, Urological Oncology, and Robot-Assisted Surgery

The Department of Urology at St. Antonius Hospital Gronau is one of the leading urological clinics in Germany and also enjoys an excellent international reputation. Our clinic is renowned for its expertise and experience in the  treatment of prostate cancer with robot assisted radical prostatectomy with the da Vinci ® surgical system  and is considered one of the leading centers for patients from Germany, Europe, and overseas.

A global leader in prostate cancer treatment

Since 2006, we succesfully perform robot-assisted surgery with the da Vinci® surgical system. With five operating da Vinci® robot systems – more than any other clinic in Europe – and over 23,700 procedures performed, we are one of the largest and most renowned centers for robot-assisted prostatectomy worldwide.

There are several advantages related to robot- assisted surgery as it is a  minimally invasive surgical method: the procedure results in less pain, shorter recovery times, and a quicker return to everyday life. A common concern among our patients is the preservation of continence and potency. Thanks to our high-precision robot-assisted surgical technique, nerve-sparing surgery that contributes to preservation of potency and continence is possible, depending on the individual situation.

International reputation & language skills

Our international reputation  is evident from the treatment reviews of patients from abroad and overseas. Our doctors are part of an international network, present on international conferences, and are engaged in the exchange with experts worldwide. English and Dutch language skills allow us to provide optimal care to patients from many countries.

The high level of patient satisfaction is reflected in reviews, very good ratings for prostate cancer treatment and personal messages and postcards that we receive.

Modern spectrum: endourology & innovative diagnostics

In addition to robot-assisted surgery, our clinic covers the entire spectrum of endourology. This includes:

  • the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH),
  • the therapy of kidney and bladder diseases,
  • modern prostate cancer diagnostics, for example MRI-guided fusion biopsy.

The application of innovative procedures, including laser therapies and minimally invasive interventions, are our standard.  The high volume of surgery contributes to our center being in the lead in Germany in the field of endourology.

Quality, processes & patient focus

The success of our clinic is based on state-of-the-art medical technology, clearly structured processes, personalized patient care, and a dedicated team
