Gronau/London, March 20. The Department of Urology at St. Antonius Hospital in Gronau showcased its surgical expertise on the international stage. At the annual congress of the European Association of Urology (EAU) in London, a robot-assisted prostate removal was broadcast live from the operating room in Gronau.

The procedure was performed using the state-of-the-art “da Vinci 5” surgical robot. Under the direction of Chief Physician Dr. Christian Wagner, the team demonstrated a minimally invasive surgical technique that has been continuously refined over the course of two decades. During the live broadcast, the several thousand urologists in attendance from many countries were able to follow the procedure step by step and gain insights into the surgical precision and highly standardized procedures of the Gronau urology department.

An invitation to such a live broadcast is regarded in professional circles as a special recognition of a center’s surgical expertise. “The opportunity to present our experience and surgical technique on a global stage fills us with great pride,” explains Dr. Wagner. “It also demonstrates the importance of teamwork and continuous development in modern medicine.”

Special thanks go to the entire surgical and organizational team at the clinic, who made this complex live broadcast possible.
