Drus-Symposium in Hamburg with Live OP-Performance by Dr. Wagner

Gronau, november 25. The Department of Urology at St. Antonius-Hospital Gronau once again demonstrated its leading expertise in robot-assisted and minimally invasive surgery at the 15th Symposium of the German Society for Robot-Assisted Urology (DRUS) in Hamburg. With more than ten participants from OR nursing, medical training, the senior consultant team, and Head of Department Dr. Christian Wagner, Gronau was strongly represented at Germany’s most important meeting for robotic urologic surgery.

A highlight of the congress was the live surgery performed by Dr. Christian Wagner using the new da Vinci 5 system, which is in clinical use at St. Antonius-Hospital Gronau as the first site in Europe. In front of an international audience, Dr. Wagner showcased the system’s advanced technological capabilities and its advantages in surgical precision, efficiency, and patient safety.

Dr. Wagner also took part in a high-profile panel discussion, offering a practical comparison of the latest robotic platforms and discussing their strengths and clinical challenges — a contribution that drew significant attention.

Senior Consultant Dr. Lukas Esch moderated a live-streamed robot-assisted partial nephrectomy from Lübeck, explaining surgical strategies and emphasizing the importance of technical standardization for consistent quality in robotic surgery.

Through its active participation and recognized expertise at the DRUS Symposium, the Urology Department at St. Antonius-Hospital Gronau once again affirmed its leading position in robot-assisted urology — both nationally and internationally. With the da Vinci 5 system, the hospital is among Europe’s most advanced centers for robotic excellence in urology.
