Testicles

Testicles

The testicles (testes) are paired male reproductive organs located in the scrotum, suspended by the spermatic cord. They play a crucial role in male health, producing both hormones (androgens) and sperm, essential for reproduction.

At the upper end of each testicle lies the head of the epididymis, situated along the back of the epididymal body. This structure serves as the storage site for mature sperm, which, during ejaculation, travel through the vas deferens to the prostate. There, they mix with prostatic fluid and are expelled via the urethra.

Common Testicular Conditions Treated at Urology Gronau

  • Testicular Cancer – Early detection of testicular cancer significantly improves treatment outcomes. Regular self-examination is recommended for early signs.
  • Testicular Torsion – A medical emergency where the testicle twists, cutting off its blood supply. Immediate surgical intervention is required.
  • Undescended Testicles (Cryptorchidism) – A condition where one or both testicles fail to descend into the scrotum, requiring surgical correction in childhood to prevent complications.
  • Hydrocele (Fluid Accumulation in the Testicle) – A benign swelling caused by fluid buildup around the testicle, often requiring surgical treatment if symptomatic.
  • Varicocele (Enlarged Testicular Veins) – Can lead to discomfort or fertility issues; minimally invasive procedures are available to treat this condition.
  • Vasectomy (Male Sterilization) – A safe and effective procedure for permanent contraception.

At Urology Gronau, we combine advanced diagnostics with minimally invasive and surgical treatments to ensure optimal care for all male reproductive health issues. Our team emphasizes patient comfort, precise treatment, and long-term follow-up to maintain both health and fertility when possible.
