The prostate gland is one of the internal reproductive organs in men. It is located directly below the bladder and surrounds the urethra. Together with the adjacent seminal vesicles, it produces most of the male seminal fluid, which is responsible for transporting and nourishing the sperm cells.
Normally, the prostate is about the size and volume of a chestnut and weighs approximately 20 to 25 grams in a healthy man.
